M A Alamgir

Mohiuddin Ahmed Alamgir, popularly known as Alamgir, made his debut in Bangla cinema as an actor in the year 1972. Thereafter he played the central character in many films including ‘Amar Janmobhumi; and “Dasyurani’. He appeared in more than 240 films during his career. He diversified as a Producer, Distributor and Director of cinema in 1985. The first film ‘Nishpap’ directed by him was released in the year 1986. Over his long career in films, his acting was recognised through many awards both at home and abroad. He received National Film Award for nine times. He also received Bangladesh Film Journalists Association Award. He even won the Uttam Kumar Film Award. Few of the notable films he appeared in are ‘Bhaat De’ (1984), ‘Maa O Chhele’ (1985), ‘Apeksha’ (1987), ‘Khotipuron’ (1989), ‘Moroner Porey’ (1990), ‘Pita­Maata­Santan’ (1991), ‘Andho Biswas’ (1992), ‘Satya- Mithya’ (1996), ‘Ranikuthir Baki Itihas’ (2006), ‘Dui Prithibe’ (2015, Boumaa, Maayer Dowa, and many more.
